The Cité internationale de la tapisserie in Aubusson was created in 2009, after the region's tapestry art was recognized as an "intangible heritage of humanity" by UNESCO. More than a museum, its mission is to protect weaving know-how and ensure its transmission through ambitious creation policies.
From the outset, the Cité has developed a number of contemporary creation programs, through artistic commissions and sponsorship to bring together the region's tapestry artisans and today's artists.
Through original works at the frontier between the plastic arts and design, between references to the past and innovations, it is the dialogue between the creator and the weaver that will be at the heart of this exhibition.
