Travelling to Angers by bike is a practical, eco-friendly and enjoyable option. Thanks to its extensive network of cycle paths, and whilst taking in the scenery and the Angers way of life, the city is easy to reach and explore on two wheels, whether you’re a local or a visitor.
There are three main cycle routes, each connected to railway stations in the area:
- the Loire à vélo : linking La Possonnière, Savennières, Angers, Trélazé and La Ménitré
- the Vélo Francette : linking Trélazé and Angers
- the Vallée du Loir à vélo : linking Angers and Briollay
NB : The Loire à vélo train stops only at Angers
Numerous TGV services depart from or stop at Angers Saint-Laud SNCF station. The region also benefits from rail services via several other TER stations: La Ménitré, La Possonnière, Briollay, Le Vieux-Briollay, Écouflant, Savennières-Béhuard, Tiercé, Trélazé and Étriché.
If you’re arriving in or departing from Angers by train, booking a bike space on TER or Intercités trains is strongly recommended, and in some cases compulsory. Check the SNCF’s guidelines for travelling with a bike. Secure bike parking is available near the station.
