Sitting in the middle of Loire is an island with 100 inhabitants. Accessed by a road bridge, the tranquillity of this setting soon becomes apparent and yet it is only 17kms from Angers and just an hour's drive from Nantes.
Chambre d'hôtes Les Tonnelles with its 3 B&B rooms is situated at the entrance to the ancient village of Béhuard. Owners Catherine and Gérard are known not only for being good hosts but also for the Michelin star restaurant 'Les Tonnelles' they run in Angers.
The island has its own walking and cycling circuit which reveals some spectacular riverscape views and takes-in some interesting history like the chapel built by Louis XI and La Coulée de Serrant, an ancient winery.
