Hiking - La Roche de Murs
Pass through the small port village and take time to contemplate and admire nature as you walk along the Louet. Don't forget to look up at the Roche de Mûrs, a rocky promontory overlooking the valley.
Tourist attractions :
- Old sand port: extraction of Loire sand began in the 19th century and was managed by the Allory family from 1882. Since the end of the 20th century, sand extraction on the Loire and its tributaries has been prohibited.
- The republican monument erected in 1889, symbolizing the history of La Roche de Mûrs, reminds us of the republican concepts of liberty, equality and fraternity, where 600 republicans perished, some of them by throwing themselves off the cliff, during the battle against the Blancs on July 26, 1793.
- The blockhouse, built in the winter of 1942-1943, was at the heart of the system set up at Erigné by the Kriegsmarine based at Château de Pignerolle in Saint-Barthélémy-d'Anjou.
