Destination Angers: sustainable development policy
As an organiser and co-organiser of both professional and public events, a facilities manager, and a key player in public policy for tourism, events and promotion of the region, Destination Angers is committed to the Angers Loire Métropole ecological transition policy.
Destination Angers wants to combine responsible management with economic performance in its work, to benefit the region and its clients/visitors.
At the heart of its efforts to achieve this are employee expertise, and encouraging local forces to take action and work together, in a spirit of synergy, to enhance the profile of Angers as a destination.
Destination Angers tourist office
At the tourist office, Destination Angers is taking concrete steps to:
- Promote local products, industries, and skills: the tourist office shop stocks only local food products and other products made in France or Europe…
- Follow a responsible purchasing policy: eco-designed brochures printed on recycled paper, locally bought, organic cotton clothing with OEKO-TEX or GOTS certification for reception staff, and locally designed furniture wherever possible…
- Reduce waste and increase waste sorting, re-use and recycling: reducing paper print-outs, sending personalised roadbooks by email, sorting bins for staff use.
- Reduce consumption connected to digital technology: plans to establish a Data Day to reduce the amount of stored data, turning off outdoor digital signs at a set time.
- Raise customer awareness and encourage them to make greener choices: eco-responsible accommodation, restaurants spotlighting local products, green transport.
- Educate local service providers and involve them in a CSR strategy: themed workshops, collective effort with hotel owners to obtain the ecolabel in partnership with the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME).
- Adapt to welcome people with disabilities in our facilities, for tours and for events: automatic doors, adapted counters, hearing loops, an accessible route around the historical centre, accessible heritage panels, and scheduled tours for the visually impaired (by reservation).
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions linked to building use and staff habits: gradual replacement of lighting with LEDs and detectors to control lighting in corridors.
In line with its missions, values and strategic direction, Destination Angers is committed to ISO 20121 certification for its events (internal events and events produced or co-produced by Destination Angers, in its facilities or elsewhere, and events held in its facilities).
