Located at the top of the Saint-Maurice staircase, the reward is as good as the effort! After climbing the stone steps and admiring the plunging view over the Maine River, you'll come face to face with Angers Cathedral. Try to spot the eight statues of saints before entering the building, built between the 11th and 13th centuries. You'll discover the Angevin Gothic style, with its curved vaults and ogives. Take time to admire the medieval stained glass windows, and sit back for a moment to listen to the sound of the organ.
You'll love
- The charm of the historic district surrounding the cathedral
- The view of the cathedral façade from the bottom of the Saint-Maurice staircase
- The play of light in the stained glass windows
