Located 12 kms north-west of Angers and bordered by the river Mayenne, this pretty riverside village has a rich and natural heritage.
Part of the Basses Vallées Angevines, it has a Natura 2000 classification giving it both recognised and protected status as one of the most beautiful natural wetlands in Europe. It goes without saying that Montreuil-Juigné offers both a peaceful and fascinating setting for all outdoor enthusiasts. And there is no better way to enjoy this open and ever-changing landscape than on foot, with map in hand, or by bike, following the old towpath that borders the meandering river and taking-in the engineering ingenuity of the locks at Sautré and Montreuil.
