La Daguenière market town was created late: in fact, it was developed thanks to the construction of the dyke, finished in the end of Middle Ages In 1518, Nicolas Houssemaine and his wife Raoulline Lelièvre created a chapel on this dyke, belonged to the Saint-Jean-des-Mauvrets' parish, on the South shore. The parish was then victim of floods from the Loire and Authion rivers. In 1733, the flood was 5 feet high (around 1.50 metres). A dyke on the left shore of the Authion river was built in 1855 to avoid rises from this Loire river tributary. Saint Blaise's relics, obtained by the vicar in 1859, are kept in the church. The actual church was built between 1822 and 1829, following the plans of the architect Louis François, father of the architect Jacques-Louis François-Villers, responsible of the creation of La Bohalle, Saint-Mathurin-sur-Loire and Brain-sur-l 'Authion churches. A restoration campaign was made for this church in 1847.
