An area of outstanding natural beauty, part of the NATURA 2000 conservation network which catalogues areas within Europe that have a scarcity or fragility of flora or wildlife.
L'île Saint-Aubin is known for its important role in river management and is only 2kms from the city centre. It is a rich and colourful patchwork of flood meadows populated by a number of important species of birds including the corncrake.
The island is accessible from April. Leave your car in the car park by the River Mayenne cross over on the ferry bridge by bike or on foot .
