Espace Air Passion Museum

The Espace Air Passion museum is located at the Angers Loire Airport. It is France's first private aviation museum. It welcomes visitors to 3,500 m² of indoor space. Its collections focus on light civil and military aviation, gliding, amateur aircraft construction, and model aircraft. In its state-of-the-art facilities, the Espace Air Passion Museum presents the history of aviation through some forty airplanes and gliders (some of which are airworthy), spanning the period from 1907 to 1970, notably René Gasnier’s airplane, which made the first flight in Anjou; a replica of Hélène Boucher’s Caudron Rafale; prototypes of flapping-wing and movable-wing aircraft that are unique in the world; the American Piper that took part in the Liberation of Angers in 1944 … The restoration of the aircraft takes place in full view of the public, who can also meet the volunteer craftsmen. The site is child-friendly. “Discovery” booklets allow families to explore the world of aviation together. One booklet is designed for children ages 3 to 6. Another booklet, along with hands-on activities, is designed for children ages 7 to 12. For the youngest visitors, there’s an area with a foam airplane to assemble and plenty of other games. Visitors of all ages can climb aboard two airplanes. The Espace Air Passion museum regularly offers family activities, such as a giant Playmobil exhibition during the All Saints’ Day school break and the “Aviators’ Santa Claus” event (mid-December). During school breaks, hands-on, fun, and educational workshops are organized for children ages 4 to 13. The museum regularly hosts temporary exhibitions and events. Additional hours: Open Monday through Sunday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM during Zone B school breaks. Closed on December 25 and January 1. Visitors with limited mobility can access 80% of the museum, as most of the collections are displayed on the ground floor. Admission to Espace Air Passion is free for Angers City Pass holders.
