Les Nymphes portent des baskets (Nymphs Wear Sneakers) is an amused nod to our museum collections, whose lascivious, nude muses reflect a history of art written by and for men. The confrontation is intended to be engaged, without being accusatory. A counterpoint, rather than a reproach. By inhabiting the museum space, Joséphine Boivineau and Marion Jousseaume offer the body, asserting its femininity, a place it rarely occupies.
Through dance, two nymphs invite us to rediscover this mythical gallery, once abandoned and now a must-see place for Angevins. In the midst of these plastered giants, they impose themselves as muses, goddesses and odalisques, taking possession of this open-air glass roof.
