Description
The Musée Jean Lurçat et de la Tapisserie Contemporaine in Angers is a must-see for all art and culture lovers! Cross the river Maine to visit the former Hôpital Saint-Jean, one of the last great hospital complexes created in the 12th century! You'll be amazed by the beauty of the site and its history. Stroll through the covered gallery and contemplate the works on display, sublimated by the setting and the light. You'll soon be drawn into the large Salle des malades, where the remarkable Tolkien hanging is currently on display until November 8, 2026. Pass through the cloister for a suspended moment, the 17th/18th-century apothecary and the former orphanage, which features some sixty works on textiles in a chronological sequence. It's a moment out of time that awaits you between culture and heritage, and a must-do!
