You can stroll through the narrow streets of the historic town, admire the beauty of Anjou’s heritage, enjoy the cultural activities on offer, take in the parks and gardens in the heart of the city … and in just a few steps, find yourself out in the middle of nature.
A number of exceptional walking routes invite you to head off around Anjou. The lower Anjou valleys, one of Europe’s most beautiful wetlands, are a great place to take a stroll. Not to be missed are the walks along the banks of the Loire, Loir and Mayenne, with their rich flora and fauna.
When walking along the banks of the Loire, admire the wildlife and breathtaking views over the river in the towns of Ponts-de-Cé and Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire. Discover Béhuard, awarded the “Small Town of Character” label and the only village located on an island in the Loire, with its landscapes that helped classify the Loire Valley as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander between sun-drenched hillsides and flat terrain, and stop for a tasting in the Savennières vineyards, renowned for their dry wines.
