Around 30km of the Mayenne towpath is impassable following the February 2026 floods.

For safety reasons, the Département de Maine-et-Loire has closed the entire stretch between Cantenay-Epinard and La Jaille-Yvon. Access is strictly forbidden to all users (pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles) until further notice.

Recommended route during construction :
- From Cantenay-Epinard, join the network of secondary roads in the direction of Montreuil-Juigné.
- From Angers, take the voie verte to Avrillé, the Route Nationale to Montreuil-Juigné, then the Route de Laval to La Membrolle-sur-Longuenée.
- Continue towards Pruillé, then Le Lion-d'Angers.
- Rejoin La Jaille-Yvon to return to the original route.

Mayenne loop Set off on this loop from Angers along the voie verte towards Montreuil-Juigné. You'll have the chance to pedal along a section of the famous Vélo Francette cycle route. Stop off at Île Saint-Aubin on its chain ferry. Open, signposted route. Practical information - Starting point: Parc de Balzac, Angers - Public transport stop (tramway and train) less than 500m from starting point - Height difference: 37m - Recommended period: March to November - Recommended duration: half-day - Route not passable during flood periods - Check accessibility dates and times for the Île Saint-Aubin ferry. Tip: - This green loop allows you to cycle safely to the Terra Botanica plant park. - You can continue this escapade by taking the Vélo Francette cycle route, which runs from Montreuil-Juigné to Angers via Cantenay-Épinard and Ile Saint-Aubin.
