Description
In conjunction with the exhibition *Collecting the 18th Century. Angers Presents Drawings from the Louvre and the “Angers Draws” special event, the Museum of Fine Arts invites visitors to rediscover a work by Eric Eriston Winarto, Wall Painting from the Blacklight Selva series, commissioned in 2015 for the Graphic Arts Gallery.
To create his murals, the artist transforms the usual exhibition space. The walls seem to vanish, giving way to a window opening onto a world suspended in time. The artist coats the walls with fluorescent paint, then draws a landscape that is revealed under black light. Charred vegetation stirs to make way for suspended scenes, inspired by Dante’s dark forest or selva oscura. Visitors are then immersed in a unique universe of spellbinding landscapes.
