Description
As part of “Angers dessine,” four local artists—Cécile Benoiton, Frédéric Bouffandeau, Choun, and Julie Maquet—are taking over the contemporary art space at RU - Repaire Urbain. The exhibition presents four different approaches to line, drawing, and color.
For Cécile Benoiton, it is a pencil-based practice in which form is evanescent, as seen in her clouds and daily sketchbooks.
For Frédéric Bouffandeau, a repeating pattern with variations, sometimes emphasizing the outline and other times focusing on the fill, using various materials: neon, metal, and spray paint.
For Choun, a daily practice of freehand drawing with brush and ink. The creation of forms saturated with paint through a calligraphic gesture, then cut out to be reassembled, not to mention the creation of 3D figures that become mobiles: drawings made with wire.
For Julie Maquet: working with pencil until exhaustion; it is the felt-tip pen that dictates the form through its capacity.
The ensemble vibrates, shimmers, and comes to life, revealing four unique artistic practices.
