Description
Nocturne to launch the exhibition, with artists on hand to chat with visitors.
For several months, five photographers, like pearl fishers, went deep into archives, museums, collections, underground galleries, wastelands and forests to find the images that tell forgotten stories and shape our collective imaginations today.
Passé recomposé brings together the work of five talented artists in residence at the Collégiale Saint-Martin: Juliette Agnel, Matthieu Gafsou, Emma Cossée Cruz, Jérôme Blin and Gaëtan Chevrier.
This exhibition offers us intimate and sincere views of Anjou, and celebrates 200 years of photography by reminding us that this revolutionary invention tells before it shows, brings memory to life and is above all a genuine artistic gesture.
The project has been awarded the "Bicentenaire de la Photographie" label by the French Ministry of Culture, and is part of its official program. It is curated by Thierry Pelloquet for the Département de Maine-et-Loire, and Émilie Houssa for the Centre Claude Cahun pour la photographie contemporaine.
