Description

Created during the Hundred Years’ War, this monumental textile work, commissioned by Duke Louis I of Anjou, is an exceptional example of the art of lis-woven tapestry. Knights, Gothic architecture, animals, plants, furniture, cities… The Apocalypse of Angers is not limited to illustrating the last book of the Bible. It also serves as a vivid testament to the 14th century, reflecting the power of a duke with international ambitions. Practical information: For ages 14 and up. Reservations can be made up until the day before the tour. Book online through the château’s ticketing system or in person up until the day of the tour. Accessible to people with limited mobility and strollers. This tour does not take place during the European Heritage Days weekend in September, on free admission Sundays (the first Sunday of each month from November through March), or during the weekend of the “La Belle Echoppe” event (the second weekend in December).
