Description

Come discover the Chapel of Saint John the Baptist, likely the largest medieval chapel in Anjou. Built in the very early 15th century by Duke Louis II and his wife Yolande of Aragon in honor of a relic brought back from the Crusades, the castle chapel is notable for its Angevin Gothic vaults and the brightness of its tuffeau stone walls. Once reserved for the castle’s residents and the dukes—who had a private, heated oratory built there—this place of worship underwent many changes after the Middle Ages... Practical Information: Ages 14 and up. Limited capacity. Reserve your spot in advance. Tour accessible to visitors with limited mobility.
