The Angers Nantes Opéra Chorus invites you to the Underworld! The season’s first “Toutes voix dehors” event delves into the story of a man who, like the poet Orpheus, descends into the bowels of the Earth, meets the king of the dead, and witnesses the frenzied rituals of the underworld. The program features some of opera’s most beautiful passages, in which the chorus takes on the roles of both infernal creatures and the spiritual aspirations of humanity. The performance will include excerpts from Jacques Offenbach’s *Orpheus in the Underworld* and Charles Gounod’s *Faust*, as well as works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Camille Saint-Saëns, Giuseppe Verdi, Gabriel Fauré, and composer Marie Jaëll.
