Place de la Paix, 49000 Angers

Description

Place de la Paix originated as the former cemetery for the poor at Saint-Jean Hospital, which was closed around 1785 and transformed into a grassy square. Its name, one of the few legacies of the Revolution, has endured. It is surrounded by notable 15th- to 17th-century houses, including the Hôtel Du Guesclin, built in 1554 at the corner of Rue de l’Hommeau.
