Angers’ Local and Sustainable Cuisine

Eating well is part of Angers’ art of good living and is made possible by an inventive and innovative local cuisine prepared with high quality produce.

Eating locally and responsibly?

It’s clear and simple – in Angers, people love good food!

Here we bring you a small selection of Angevin restaurants that have opted for a sustainable approach.

Sens

Nicolas Adamopulos, one of the Gault & Millau guide’s young talents of 2019 and former second chef to Christopher Hache at the Crillon, has forged himself an excellent reputation on the Angers food scene over the last few years.

At his restaurant Sens on Rue Boisnet, he offers high-calibre cuisine using thefinest seasonal and local products. Here, there is a single set menu and it couldn’t be better. The fabulous quality of the ingredients are fully showcased in this five-part culinary journey with subtle, technical and original dishes.

Le Resto du Jardin

Protecting the environment and resources are the guiding principle of this restaurant at the Jardin de l’Avenir. At Resto du Jardin, only the tiniest amount of waste is produced, and this is returned to the garden as compost. Here you have the magic of ultra local, extra-fresh produce and good, beautiful, organic food. On the same site as a pick-your-own farm and shop, this eatery encourages social connection and is a place where people come to feel good.

Les casse-croutes de Suzy

This great little café serves organic products right across the board, including salads, quiches, and desserts, all made in house every day. You will find set menus for all appetites, including vegetarian and vegan menus. And going by the long line outside at lunchtime, they have a recipe for success. This is a highly recommended family-run eatery, where you will find Suzy, her parents and her sister behind the counter.
