A story born from an Angers spark
It all began in Angers in 1885, when a young pharmacist and herbalist by the name of Émile Giffard invented a white mint liqueur with digestive and refreshing properties.
His immediate success led him to convert his dispensary into a distillery, creating the Menthe-Pastille in reference to the very popular mint pastilles of the time. Five generations later and over 140 years on, Giffard is still a family-run business, perpetuating tradition and expanding its range of recipes with fruit creams, liqueurs, guignolets and syrups distributed in over 90 countries. The brand is now internationally renowned and throws open its doors to anyone looking to find out more about this iconic Anjou house.
