Description
They gave dragons their wings... and their bad reputation! What if, after dark, we were to rediscover these unloved creatures? Four species of bats regularly inhabit the monument throughout the year. In winter, common pipistrelles and long-eared bats hibernate in the cracks of the ramparts. In summer, bats fly through the moats, gardens, and streets of the city to hunt insects, their main food source.
Accompanied by Manon, a nature educator at LPO-Anjou, take a nighttime stroll through the nooks and crannies of the fortress—designated a “Bat Sanctuary”—and discover these mammals that are essential to the ecosystem.
