Angers, the Cycling Experience Gravel Weekend—Between the Loire and the Vineyards First time bikepacking? Set out with friends on a roughly 100-km gravel route starting from Angers, specially designed for first-timers. With a bike equipped for bikepacking, panniers and gear provided by the bike concierge service at the Tourist Office – Destination Angers, and a night at a campground or in “Accueil Vélo” accommodation, enjoy a 2- to 3-day trip connecting the Loire River to the vineyards of Layon, Aubance, and Savennières. Itinerary: Route of approximately 100 km / 107 km if including a round trip to Béhuard – Gravel bike equipped for bikepacking – intermediate level. Good physical condition required. Open, unmarked route to be completed independently and by reservation: - Starting point: Tourist Office, Place Kennedy, Angers—check-in and advice at the bike concierge desk - Public transit stop (tram and train) located less than 500 m from the starting point - Elevation gain: 300 m - Season: early April to late October - Recommended duration: 2 to 3 days - Service area along the route (Bouchemaine) Surface type: - Paved: 63% - Dirt path: 37% Angers and its surroundings, with their rich confluence landscapes, are sometimes prone to flooding throughout the year. Some trails may be temporarily impassable; please remain vigilant.
